TRAVEL & LEISURE

Just a 60-minute comfortable drive along the North Luzon Expressway and five minutes from the Dau exit, Clark is perhaps the most land-accessible destinations from Manila. Here, Yats Leisure submits a wide variety of venues designed for all sorts of functions and events. Group gatherings, including weddings, seem to prefer the charm and ambience of the outdoors especially if secured and clean. Yats Club Grill Room plays host to corporate and social functions serving great meals and great vintage wines at duty-free prices. Some even take back a few bottles to enjoy at the comfort of their homes. See also, Yats Wine Cellar and Clear Water Country Club. For more details log on to www.yatsleisure.com, e-mail service@yats-international.com or call +63-2-633-1566.

EXHIBIT

THE JAPS IN BAGUIO

The UP Asian Center and the UP Jorge B. Vargas Museum & Filipiniana Research Center opens Haponés: The Early 20th Century Japanese Community of Baguio at the Edge Gallery on November 20.

Based primarily on the recently published book, Japanese Pioneers in the Northern Philippine Highlands, the exhibition of approximately 60 photographs of Baguio's vibrant Japanese community illuminates a portion of Philippine, Japanese, and American colonial history that has come close to being forgotten.

A symposium on the Japanese migrants to the Philippine since the 20th Century: History, issues and prospects between two countries organized by UP Asian Center Prof. Michiyo Yoneno-Reyes, will also be held from 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. before the exhibit's opening.

Haponés is sponsored by the Japan Foundation, Japan Foundation Manila, and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. For more details, please contact the Asian Center at +63-2-9270909 or asiancntr@up.edu.ph, or the UPVM at +63-2-9281927 or vargasmuseum@gmail.com.
